Defining Success: Former & Latter

What is Success? How and when do we know when we have become a success? To define success I like how Tony Robbins explains it "Success is doing what you want, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want." But this is a form of what I call Latter Success. It is a effect and not the cause. In this modern world success is often measured by $$$, and of course we must have $$$ to have these kind of choices and options. Having the ability to do what we want to do when we want to do it, is a effect that will only come after we have done certain things in a certain way so that our actions will eventually produce a certain outcome (effect).

So how do we get to were we want to be. We need what I call Former Success. We need the proper cause in order to get the proper effect. I like how the late Earl Nightingale puts it “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. If a man is working towards a predetermined goal and knows where he is going, that man is a success.”

I use my imagination to visualize create what I want my Latter Success to be, and create a goal and plan and immediately begin to take action. This will make me a success today and everyday after (Former Success). Everyday I use the thought of Latter Success to constantly create the necessary desire I need to motivate me to take action towards my Latter Success vision.

So first we must know what we “want to do” and the lifestyle “we want to live”. What is your purpose? What is your desired lifestyle? Write it down along with a plan on how you plan to achieve it, and begin to work towards that goal. There is no such thing as “something for nothing”. We must pay the price. You now have a worthy ideal, you are now successful. Stay persistent, keep the vision, and Latter Success will follow.

Best Wishes,
